The second quarter of 2025 brought some much-needed cheer to platforms and asset managers, with assets soaring to a record-breaking £842bn. Most of the credit goes to the markets, which had a storming few months and helped lift portfolios across the board, but assets were also boosted by recently onboarded asset manager clients.

Gross flows were the highest on record, nudging up to £83bn, which was to be expected in the run-up to tax-year-end. And though net flows of £4.9bn were strong, they failed to match Q224’s £6.2bn.
Interest rates have started to come down which should encourage greater investment, but stubborn inflation, mixed economic messages and Trump tariff uncertainty could dent consumer sentiment. Let’s wait and see.
